Mencari Informasi Hardware di Linux

Untuk mengetahui hardware apa yang anda gunakan, bila di Windows anda bisa menggunakan msinfo32.exe, atau menggunakan aida32. Tapi bagaimana di Linux? Kemarin saya sempat terpikir mau menambah memori, tapi aduh.. Masa harus bongkar laptop?

Kalau jenis prosesor, saya bisa pakai cat /proc/cpuinfo, tapi bagaimana kalau memori? adanya cat /proc/meminfo. Tapi jenis memori apakah DDR1 atau DDR2 juga tidak ada. Akhirnya saya bertanya ke paman Google, dan diberi jawaban untuk menggunakan dmidecode.

Jadi dmidecode adalah alat untuk mengambil informasi dari tabel DMI / SMBIOS sehingga bisa dibaca oleh user. Tabel DMI/ SMBIOS ini berisi deskripsi dari hardware yang ada di komputer, termasuk serial number dan versi BIOS

DMI merupakan singkatan dari “Desktop Management Interface”, sedangkan SMBIOS merupakan singkatan dari “System Management BIOS”, keduanya merupakan standar yang dikeluarkan oleh DTMF (Desktop Management Force)

Untuk menjalankan dmidecode, anda harus sebagai user sudo / root. Jadi ketikkan ini di terminal:

sudo dmidecode
